A 1976 draft of the shooting script for Star Wars has been found in the library at the University of New Brunswick’s Saint John campus, a small school on Canada’s Atlantic coast.

The script is dated March 15, 1976 and at this point was still using the short and snappy title Adventures of Luke Starkiller, as taken from the Journal of the Whills, Saga I: The Star Wars. Despite the title, the script has already changed Luke’s name to Skywalker. This is, I believe, the fourth draft of the script Lucas wrote before the movie went into production.

As a graduate of this university, I do know that it did have one of Canada largest science fiction collections so I suppose it shouldn’t be surprising that, somewhere in the archives, a copy of one of the original scripts found a home there.
